I chose this book to read and review without knowing anything about it. And to be honest, when I realized the subject matter, I was not very excited. However I felt at the beginning about the subject matter was unimportant about 1/3 of the way in. And by the end of the book, I want to read the next!
This book took a little to warm up to, and through most of the book, you don't really know the main character. Just generalizations in who he was, what he looked like, what had happened. But by the end, you have a clear and concise view of him, his character as well as the supporting characters. It was like eating an artichoke...the further you got in, the better it was.
The writing was very fluid. And the book action packed with adventure and twists and turns. You get pulled in by the characters description of what is around him, until the very end. This is a book I would recommend to any friend as a well written and intriguing book.
I give it 4 stars and my compliments on changing my view and mind on many things.~ Carrie

Very interesting book I must say. I did keep me interested the whole time!
It's very action packed! A little romance but it's not the object of the book. It's more along the lines of a team of people with special higher powers to bring down the evil doer's in the world. Aaron is asked to be part of the Grey Spear Society....if he doesn't join, well lets just say that there is a possible box in his future.
This is my first book by Alex Seigel that I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I can't wait to read the rest of them! The action, plot, twists and turns never stopped!~ Jaime
About Alex Siegel
Alex Siegel grew up a math and computer geek. At the age of twenty-five, he received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell. He continues to make a good living as a software developer in Chicago. In his late twenties, he took up creative writing as a serious pastime with the intention of eventually making it his career. This goal has been elusive, but failure is not an option. In 2001, his wife gave birth to triplet boys. People often ask him how he still finds time to write. In 2009, he began the Gray Spear Society series, and he hopes it will be his key to literary fame.
