Blood Magic review

A witch/vampire hybrid, Renee Draven was sent to fulfill her destiny. Hell-bent on destroying the Evil One that has tormented and defiled her lineage for centuries, she must take back the power that was stolen long ago. Racing against time to destroy the darkness that threatens her life and those she loves. She must confront her demons. Losing faith in herself, and her power, she stumbles across William Angelo, the one she was said to bring home and save. While on her dark journey she must find Dante Angelo, his blood is the key to awakening her vampire side and defeating Damaskeos. Struggling to stay alive, she is torn between wanting a normal life and her duties, Renee must learn to believe in herself and the magic that flows through her blood, if she is to save the lives of those she loves. Will she find the strength to defeat Damaskeos and end his reign once and for all? Or will she fall as all the other Draven Witches before her? Blood Magic will take you on a mystical ride into alternate dimensions, the magical world of the Draven witches, and the supernatural creatures that would give their life to protect them.

Our thoughts:

How would you feel knowing that you are half vampire half witch who has been living in another realm training your whole life for something big but yet never enjoyed the simply things in life like Italian food or boys? Knowing youre destined to slay a creature simply known as the Winged One but also hunted for you power by another? Renee Draven knows that feeling and now so I do thanks to Blood Magic.

Follow along with Renee as she transitions her life from Aureus, a realm where mystical creatures live in harmony and time moves faster, to the Mortal realm. Her parents feel that Renee is ready to live in New York and awaken her vampire side to strengthen her powers. Along the way, Renee saves a human girl named Jenny from a group of rogue vampires, frees and falls in love with a werewolf named William. I'd say more but then that would ruin all the fun of you finding out for yourself.

I gave Blood Magic 4 stars because it was a little slow for me at times but picked up speed towards the end. Zoey did an excellent job of creating witty smart ass characters like Renee and Tristan and loving characters like William and Dante. Even Damaskeos is like-able. I can't wait to read Blood Vengeance!

This book is a great beginning to a series. The writing is vague enough to allow
you to picture things yourself as if they were encouraging you to create your own
picture in a variety of settings. Once you get into the story you don’t want to put
it down.

The main plot is strong and the sub plots are “50 Shades” of loveliness! It was cool
how the author pointed out the fact that she was kept secluded and innocent,
and I felt it made these men more attracted to her. Men love innocence of heart
and soul and Rene was that.

I look forward to the next in the series and seeing how this author grows. 4 stars
