Reign of Blood review

"Never tease anything that wants to eat you. My name is April Tate and my blood is the new gold. Vampires and hybrids have overrun my world, once vibrant with life, but now a graveyard of death shrouded in shadows. I fight to survive; I fight for my mother and brother. The journey is full of turns that I am quite unprepared for. And I'm just hoping to make it to the next Vegas sunrise..."

In a post-apocalyptic world, a viral epidemic has wiped out most of the earth’s population, leaving behind few humans but untold numbers of mutated vampires. April is a seventeen-year-old girl who lives in the remains of Las Vegas one year after the outbreak. She has become a ferocious vampire killer and after her family is abducted, she goes searching for them. What she finds is a new breed of vampire, unlike any she has seen before. Unsure of whom she can trust, she discovers that her view of the world is not as black and white as she once thought, and she's willing to bend the rules to rescue her family. But in trying to save them, she may only succeed in bringing her fragile world crashing down around her.

Our thoughts:

Fast paced thrill with great character building, I applaud Alexia Purdy for her unique concept and her ability to put it into words. After a detrimental outbreak that turns its victims into blood thirsty mindless vampire/zombies infects the mass population of Las Vegas, April Tate can’t help but wonder if she, along with her mother and brother, are the soul survivors of the human race. It has been a year since the outbreak. A year spent scavenging through the remains of Las Vegas during the day, where your worst nightmares haunt the shadows, lurking within the darkness. A year of cowering in depths of a bunker, locked up tightly each night before the final rays of sunlight slip from the valleys grasp. All without even a whisper of hope that even one other human may remain uninfected. But after her mother and brother go missing during a routine scavenge for supplies, all signs point to the possibility that they weren’t as alone in the world as they once thought. 5 stars

Life will never be the same for seventeen year old April Tate. For the past year, it's just been herself, her mother and little brother Jeremy trying to survive the vampires that rule Las Vegas. Now that her mother and brother are missing after a supply run, April is hell-bent on finding them and bringing them home. What April never imagined was teaming up with the very beings she's fighting.
Reign of Blood is a fast-paced heart pumping read that keeps you on your toes. April is a tough yet caring girl who will do anything for those she loves. Follow her as she fights vampires in Vegas, teams up with an unlikely group, finds love and discovers something about herself.
Alexa did a great job with visually describing the scenes that allows the reader to know exactly where in Vegas all of this is going down. I would definitely recommend this book for those who love post apocalyptic scenarios that contains lots of blood and fighting with a hint of romance. 4 stars

I was really lucky to receive a ARC of the book Reign Of Blood by Alexia Purdy. Let me tell you it was a absolutely AMAZING book. A vampire epidemic has hit Sin City, Las Vegas and April, her mother, and 6 year old brother seem to be the only humans left???? April is one kick ass teenager who fights zombie like vampires instead of planning her next date or picking a dress for prom. After a unfortunate incident she meets with Miranda, Blaze, and Rye. Together they learn things about one another and try to work together to help benefit one another. What is the secret behind the biological makeup of April that has everyone wanting her. The strength that she shows gives us the promise that in times of adversary we to may have a inner warrior. I for one would definitely love to see more Ito this story. It would definitely be one to be placed on my watch list. This book was a refreshing change of pace from typical vampire books that have come out with the romance taking over the thrill of having a book increase your heart rate and keeping you glued to the pages as the story unfolds without predictability. Please please Alexia continue we this wonderful story. Definitely a 5 star plus book and when it is released I recommend you picking up a copy. 5 stars
