Betrayal by M.L. Guida
Heather Bowen, a drug and alcohol counselor, has always been able to see auras, but now she’s being haunted in her sleep by a red-eyed man who’s peddling a psychotic drug to her clients. After her sister becomes his next victim, Heather is determined to prove her sister’s innocence. Life as she knows it becomes more unpredictable when the new counselor, Scythe Angel, arrives. It doesn’t take Heather more than a first meeting to determine this larger than life man is commanding, pushy, determined and downright sexy. However there’s something about him she’s not sure she can trust, no matter how she finds herself drawn to him.
Scythe knows he can clear Heather’s sister’s name, but to do it he must confront his elusive and dangerous brother who seems to be bound to the dark side. With his own wings on the line, Scythe has to discover a way to save his brother’s soul before it’s too late. An arduous task for Scythe becomes even more complicated by his unearthly attraction to Heather.
For both of them to succeed they will have to learn to trust each other or fail; losing everything they hold dear.
Our Thoughts:
Heather has thrown herself into her work as a rehab manager full force. She has tried to guide her sister Rosemary into the correct path but due to the horrible events from their childhood Rosemary's road hasn't been as easy. Recently Heather has been plagues by several clairvoyant dreams in which she watches those she cares about die one after the other. What shr doesn't know is how to prevent or save them. If there is a way
The Angels of Death have landed here on earth. Twins born to serve God and his Archangels, they come to collect souls and escort them to their proper location. Only one of them has now gone rogue and his brother is the only one who can save him.....if he can be saved.
This book was very fast paced . Loaded with action and suspenses around every page. I can't imagine how Heather held everything together. Her world literally fell down!!! But then out of no where comes this amazing man who shows her what she really has been missing in her life .....love. The question is can she open herself to be loved given her childhood and her Hell on earth events surrounding her. Excellent drama on all levels with romance thrown in as well. It is an easy read, but kind of eerie at times. Blade is just plain ruthless at times. I would read this authors work again, overall solid novel!!!! 4 stars
~Michelle
This story is about a woman named Heather who just witnessed her sisters death in a dream. She has to save her. As Heather is trying to get to her at Rosemary's job, she ends up getting pulled over, delaying her. Unable to save her sister.
When she gets to the scene the man, the same man from her dreams or rather nightmare with the red in his eyes is there. She knows but no one can see him, not even the police.
As she's trying to deal with the funeral and death, brutal death of her sister, she has to interview a man responding to the ad. Name? Scythe Angel. He also has an ability....showing what would become of ex users life if they ever went back to using.
Heather at first isn't sure what to make of him. But she has an attraction to him, almost feral.
She finds out that Scythe has claimed her as an angel~mate. Heather is NOT happy with that. She doesn't even like him much less be a mate!
She had to deal with trying to forgive herself, deal with Scythe and his brother Blade who wants to kill them both. And also find out what is happening to her clients, why do they keep going back to using after finally being off of drugs for so long and then go crazy and kill people after they get high....
Betrayal will keep you guessing and get you a little hot and bothered. Definitely worth reading and getting sucked into! 4 3/4 stars
~Jaime

Destiny Unhinged Excerpt
VANESSA anxiously waits for her birthday, a boyfriend and some much needed excitement in her dull and boring life.
She soon finds herself torn between two guys. Well, I guess that is what she would call them, even though one is a dead Alien King.
MAX, a dead alien who is trapped in limbo between two worlds and longs for Vanessa, his destiny, to help him home and become his Queen. He offers her his world, his heart and his future.
TOBY, a good looking guy who shows an interest and a desire to be with Vanessa, has confessed that he too has a destiny that he’s meant to be with another. However, it’s a destiny he doesn’t want.
The connection that Vanessa has with Max is strong but the desire she has for Toby may be even stronger.
Will she accept what Destiny has in store for her or find a way to escape to find one all on her own?
Excerpt:
“Vanessa, open your eyes, my dear. Meet Najinial.” I obey without reluctance. As expected, I am indeed barefoot. My hair is down, and flowing in the breeze while my clothes are gone, though I’m not naked. They are replaced with a sheer camisole gown made of a thin, satiny fiber that hugs my body in an unforgiving fashion. My wrists and waist are imprisoned with beautiful gems encased in silver and gold. The massive stones that encircle my neck should feel heavier than they do but I barely notice their existence. My hands are adorned with colors of red, purple and gold. My skin . . . my skin is as bronze and as radiant as Max’s.
I gorge myself with my surroundings. It is not night here, the cemetery or my earth. I stand upon cobblestone, which trails a narrow path along a mountain side. This path links with a waist high clay wall that hugs both sides. The sun is so bright. Well it isn’t my sun, but a sun that shines just as bright and beats down just as warm. Max is right. This place tugs at my soul like I belong here. I feel secure and safe as Max leads me by the arm along the cobblestone path towards the top of the mountainside. Time seems to stand still for me. It feels like it should have taken hours till we reach the top but in the same instance I know it only takes us seconds.
The reality I know, no longer exists here in Najinial. I hear a flapping noise, no, several flapping noises, all in unison. High above me are creatures of all sizes and colors. They are encircling us. Almost guarding us and announcing us at the same time, each one in line swooping and dipping their heads towards us. A magnificent sapphire creature with green wings winks at me and voices a coo of some kind from its wide-opened-teeth-engorged mouth. This is unbelievable!
The countryside is so lush with varying colors of flowers, trees and grass. These are my best descriptions I can conjure up. None look like those on Earth but yet I’m sure that is what they would be considered here on Najinial. It is beautiful but I still can’t bring myself to accept my overwhelming feeling of belonging, I just can’t. Well . . . not yet, at least.
As we reach the mouth of the entrance to the mountainside, amazingly enough I’m not out of breath, sore of any aching muscles or even drenched with perspiration from the rays of this sun here on Najinial. I feel empowered, refreshed and invigorated instead.
Max let me to my own thoughts the entire journey to the top. I am grateful too. What would I have said? Words couldn’t even begin to describe this place or my feelings.
Max’s expression of contentment has shown on his face as he beams with apparent satisfaction. Somehow I know in my heart he does belong here and that he is an important person here on Najinial as he claims he is. Well, all in all, a King is indeed considered important on any world.
As we enter the mountain through an archway made of silver and gold pebbles, I begin forgetting all about whether or not I am dreaming or I am crazy. The double columns on either side of us arch high above us. They must be twelve feet high and ten feet wide. The pebbles are embedded into violet clay that holds them in place.
The rite of passage seems to last several feet in front of us. The path has been laid out with cobblestone and gem-like stones of every spectrum color imaginable.
The aromas of fragrant flowers fill the air and adorn the edges of this entrance. I literally am in the ‘Ah of the moment!’ Max continues holding my hand throughout our journey forward.
How could anyone ever want to leave such a magnificent scene of beauty?
As darkness bestows upon us due to the depth of the cavern’s mouth, lights appear almost instantaneously, bright bulbs of glowing red and green lights. They might be mistaken for Christmas lights if I didn’t notice the wings on one of them flapping out of unison and tumbling to the pebbles below.
I stop, kneel down and examine the poor creature more intuitively. It is beautiful. The size is that of a hummingbird. The beak has an extensively unique curve. The wings are lean and transparent and twice the size of the body. It makes me wonder how something so sheer can flap so fast without ripping.
The belly is round and grape-like in size. It illuminates red rays through the center. As I approach closer, the tiny creature’s center of light flickers on and off and seems to have heaved its final breath before lying motionless at my feet.
I release Max’s hand and pick the creature up, my thumb rubbing the creature’s globe ever so gently and whispering to it as I do. “Poor little thing. What a magnificent little creature you are! This shouldn’t be your last day, but thank you for blessing my arrival with such a welcoming fashion little peep.” With this sentiment, I bend forward and kiss the creature on its head. My heart, so heavy with helplessness, is unable to fathom the unjust reason this has happened to come about here and now, right in front of our feet.
I turn to hand the creature over to Max, only to find him smiling. He reaches out and takes it from me. “His name was Roe. He has lived here for 243 Najinial years. He has all but given up waiting for his Najinial Queen to arrive. He is called a ‘Willio’. His duty was to light the path through to Najinial. I would say he did a rather nice job, wouldn’t you Vanessa?”
“Oh, yes!” I emphasize, as I look at Roe and around at the other Willios.
“I think he deserves another 243 Najinial years, don’t you Vanessa?”
“Oh, Yes!” I look at Max with questionable eyes. “Can you do that? Can you bring him back to life?”
He raises the corner of his mouth as he lifts his brow. He brings Roe to his lips, whispers softly and kisses the Willio on his head. With that moment of affection, Roe begins to flicker once more, stretching his neck and flapping his wings. He immediately begins checking to make sure everything is in working order.
Hundreds of Willios now are hovering around Max and me. They are flickering their globes on and off in an array of a light symphony.
Max throws Roe into the air and the little thing finds his place in the precession. Max holds out his hand for me to return mine, back into his possession. I do so eagerly and anxiously, waiting for the next stop along the way, wherever that may lead.
Max leans over and whispers “Home” into my ear, answering my unspoken question.
I smile and take a step forward, as if by a silent alarm, all the Willios fall back into position along the sides of the cavern to illuminate our remaining journey ahead.
We only walk but a few hundred feet before I see the light at the end of the path. I can hardly wait to see my destination. As if anything can possibly compare to the beauty and wonders I have already discovered of Najinial along the way.

Cyndi Tefft interview and review of Between and Hell Transporter
I'm so excited to have Cyndi Tefft on the blog today!! I adore her, and her books!! Ashley and I are reviewing Hell Transporter and Between. And then stay tuned for my interview with Cyndi!!
It just figures that the love of Lindsey Water's life isn't alive at all, but the grim reaper, complete with a dimpled smile and Scottish accent.
After transporting souls to heaven for the last 300 years, Aiden MacRae has all but given up on finding the one whose love will redeem him and allow him entry through the pearly gates.
Torn between her growing attraction to Aiden and heaven's siren song, Lindsey must learn the hard way whether love really can transcend all boundaries.
Amazon| B&N| Smashwords
Our Thoughts:
As a lover of all things Highlander, this was a must read for me. To say that I devoured this book would be an understatement, I read this almost in one sitting. Aiden was very swoon worthy, you couldn't help but fall in love right along with Lindsey. Who doesn't want a Highlander to call their own? Especially one who reminds me of Jaime from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.
Of course Lindsey was just the right amount of fragile and strong. As you learn more about her, you get a feel for how vulnerable she really is. I was in tears at various points in the book, especially the end!! 5 Stars
~Jessi
Between is a wonderful, heart-felt story about overwhelming odds and finding true love. After a horrific car accident, Lindsey Waters finds herself caught in the in between with her handsome and very much Scottish Transporter, Aidan Macrae. His goal: to help Lindsey find peace and take her on, to the gates of Heaven. But the more time they spend together and share each other’s stories of life, the more they both realize that they are falling in love. Neither one of them is ready to accept the inevitable separation that is bound to come between them. Will their love be enough to keep them together, surrounded by the most unfortunate circumstances? Guess you better grab a copy of the book to find out. Cyndi Tefft’s Between is well worth taking a chance on. 5 Stars
~Ashley
Aiden MacRae has been given a new life after being stuck transporting souls to heaven for the last three hundred years. He doesn't know the culture, the times or the slang, but there is one thing he does know: he didn't come forward alone.
The master of hell has other plans for the Scottish Highlander and has sent a transporter of his own to get the deed done. Will Lindsey be able to save him or get caught in the crossfire?
Amazon| B&N| Smashwords
Our Thoughts:
I loved this book, totally the perfect follow up to Between. I spent the first part if the book feeling deliriously happy right along with Lindsey! Aiden has a lot to work through, he's not your typical man lol, he's got to learn all the new customs and language of the present times. I loved the underlying story about the Hell Transporter, but I was happy it wasn't the main story line. I would have missed all the swoony Aiden moment too much!!
I was smiling from ear to ear when I finished this book, and I cannot wait to see what Cyndi has in store for Aiden and Lindsey next!!! 5 stars!!
~Jessi
I couldn’t put this book down. Hell Transporter is a beautiful and exciting sequel to a captivating story. After overcoming Death itself Lindsey and Aidan MacRae thought that life for them would be easy. They had each other now and their powerful love, but they couldn’t have been more wrong. Aidan must overcome his 300 year old way of thinking, learn about the modern world and just when they think everything is getting back on track a Hell Transporter shows up, announcing its intent to take out Lindsey and stake its claim on Aidan. Time is running out. I applaud Cyndi Tefft and her creativity, just when I thought the story was finished with the ending of the first book she comes back with this thrilling sequel. 5 Stars
~Ashhley
Here's my interview with Cyndi!! Enjoy :)
Where did the idea for Between and Hell Transporter come from?
I’ve always been fascinated with life-after-death stories. I think we all wonder what the transition
will be like. Will we be met by people we know? Will there be anyone on the other side to help
us navigate? I liked the idea of a hot Scotsman coming to show me the way, so the idea just
built from there! The Hell Transporter was actually my husband’s idea. I told him I wanted to
write a bad guy and he suggested I write the opposite of Aiden. It’s so much fun brainstorming
story ideas with him.
Did you base Aiden on anyone you know?
Ha- I wish! No, I don’t know anyone like Aiden MacRae, though my husband has many of his
characteristics of kindness and generosity, and of course the way he adores his lady. :) Truly,
Jamie Fraser from Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series was my inspiration. I love Jamie so much
that I had to come up with a Scottish Highlander of my own!
Who is your favorite author?
Diana Gabaldon is definitely in the number one spot, though I have many faves including
Tammara Webber, Jeri Smith-Ready, Cassandra Clare, Johanna Lindsey, and Teresa
Medeiros.
Do you plan on having more in this series?
Yes! I am working on the third book now and my guess is that there will be one more after this
book is finished. I love posting teasers as I go along, so check the #Between3 hashtag or like
my Facebook page to keep on top of the latest! *Squee*
Do you have a playlist you listen to while writing?
I usually listen to classical piano or instrumental Scottish folk music while I write. Anything with
lyrics would be too much of a distraction. Still, for fight scenes, I have been known to crank up
some Evanescence to get the blood pumping!
What’s next for you?
My muse is rather fickle, but I imagine that after the Between series is complete, I will work on
a YA contemporary novel that has been bouncing around in my head. There are a couple of
supporting characters in the Between series who deserve a spin-off novel of their own as well. :)
Thanks for having me on the blog. I had a great time!

lyrics would be too much of a distraction.

Living Sensitive
In the small town of Willow Eve, Arkansas, feisty bartender, Delia Rhodes, lives a pretty normal life; if you consider having a ghost for a roommate, pixies as best friends and being one of the rarest hybrids to exist, normal. Her life is turned upside down when someone or something begins kidnapping pixies and she is forced to find out who is behind it and why. If that wasn’t enough for her to deal with, Delia meets a delicious vampire hybrid with a very important event coming up; his registration. Will he survive? Will Delia solve the kidnappings or get dragged into the middle of something much deeper?
Our thoughts:
This was a fun read! I liked all of the characters a lot. Delia cracked me up the whole time. Her inner dialogue is totally what I would have been saying to myself in her shoes. There was no shortage of man candy either, Seamus and Draven were both equally swoon worthy.
I really don;t have anything bad to say about this one....you guys know me, I usually have at least one thing I didn't like. This story held my interest until the very end, and it left me yelling at my Kindle because I didn't want it to be over. C.M. Rawdon is one to watch, I fully expect great things from her in the future. 5 stars
~Jessi
More Please 5 STAR*****
Seriously… I was NOT ready for this book to end. C.M. Rawdon did an amazing job and the story flowed perfectly. Delia Rhodes is the rarest of breeds within the hybrid paranormals community. Things in her life are business as usual, working nights bartending and sleeping half the day away. Even her sexy friend, the vampire-human hybrid Seamus McDermott has finally come around and asked her out. But everything changes when Pixies start getting kidnapped and the mysterious Draven Crow shows up setting Delia’s emotions on fire. Unable to control her thoughts and feels for Draven, she finds herself being pulled uncontrollably towards him. Now not only must she stop the kidnapper and find the missing pixies but also choose between the man she’s been secretly crushing on for the past few years or the one that has crash landed into her life setting off a chain of events that will leave you begging for more. They only thing I did not like about this book is I think Constantine got off way to easily and deserved and more painful and drawn out ending.
~Ashley
This story is about a young woman named Delia. She is a supe. She can read people by touching them and opening her mind. She can tell if you have been bad. Delia lives by herself, well of course not entirely, she a ghost as a roommate, Eli. Her best friends are pixies and someone has kidnapped them. Now its up to her to find them. And what is a good story without a little man trouble? Well how about 2 men? Did I mention they sound yummy? Delia has a lot to deal with and I must say, she handled it, eh hem, them well. 4.5 stars!!
~Jaime
Delia is a woman who keeps on the go. First, she tends bar /sings at a nightclub five days a week. On her off days she is busy solving mysteries, bring part of a wickrd love triangle with two dreamy men, and keeping up with her ghostly roommate Eli. What's great about this is it works!!! I fell in absolutely love with Delia. She's smart, funny, sarcastic and loveable all at the same time. As a hybrid supe, she has even held onto her humanity. She fights for the good in people and even to protect us mortals.
I loved this one. It was a very quick read full of suprises. It has a little of everything here so there's no reason not to enjoy it. There's part detective, a steamy love triangle, an awesome ghost who is very gay and hilarious, and even a hint of murder. Well rounded plot and plenty for everyone to enjoy. From the way I understand it the author plans on making this a series so I am looking forward to book two!!!! 4.5 stars!!

MM Shelley guest post
Hey all, author MM Shelley is stopping by to give us a little insight into who Kye really is!! Enjoy:)
HI Everyone, I’m M.M. Shelley and I would like to thank Jessi for having me as a
guest today. I would like to share an interview with Kye Wailele from Mishap and
Retribution.
So please pour yourself a cup of your favorite Latte and if you’re at work, hang
up your “On Break” shingle as we take five with Kye.
What is your full name?
Kye Wailele
What is the Hawaiian meaning of your name?
Kye means Rejoice and Wailele is waterfall. The name Wailele was given to my
father from his mother Pele.
When is your birthday?
April 12, 2028
When did you first learn about magic?
From my father, who learned from his mother, Pele, the Hawaiian goddess.
What kind of school do you go to? Do they teach magic?
After my parents died, my uncle Kona thought it was for the best that I was home
schooled. My uncle moved my cousin Kana’i and me around the islands a lot,
so we were never in one place for too long. With our magic we have the ability
to control fire and lava. The Hawaiian gods are always at war with each other,
always fighting for control of the islands, it’s amazing that there are not more
islanders who don’t know us.
How do you like having Pele as your grandmother?
We’re not entirely close.
Having lived in Hawaii all of your life, is there any place you would like to see?
I’ve been to Australia once, I would like to go back and spend some more time
there.
What is your favorite pastime?
Whenever I get the chance I like to spend it in the ocean, I do a lot of surfing,
nothing competitive. I don’t think it would be fair to everyone else if I did enter
considering I’d have an unfair advantage. Sometimes when I’m out in the water
and I want a really good wave I will control the waters current, make it do what I
want.
A big thank you to MM Shelley and Kye for stopping by today:)
For centuries magical beings have hidden in the darkness, waiting. Some good, some evil. A battle is brewing, and only twins, Grasiella and Tatiana, have the power to stop it.
A secret that has been kept since the dawn of time is about to be revealed with devastating consequences. It’s the summer of the year 2045, and sixteen year old Grasiella, along with her twin sister,Tatiana plan to visit their grandmother in Hawaii. They have no idea that when they arrive on the island of Kauai, they are about to be drawn into a secret, the secret, of their family’s dark origins and magical powers.
On the first day of their arrival, their grandmother is accused of a horrible crime involving a faerie. Whispers have spread throughout the islands about the disappearance of a faerie named Sita Knook and her connection to a mysterious group known only as the Cinerians.
Before long, Grasiella and Tatiana are doing battle with ancient races and magical beings. All the while trying to retrieve an ancient stone of power and impress a couple of local surfers, Kana’i and Kye, cousins who have some pretty exciting family secrets of their own. It’s pretty serious stuff for two girls who were planning to spend the summer at the beach getting tans, but then that’s the trouble with secrets, sometimes they just don’t stay buried

Hexes in Texas Review
Fed up with the slushy snow of winter, and the frigid Canadian wizards Julie McNabb wants a transfer to somewhere warm, and where the men are smoking hot!
Instead, she ends up in Bug Tussle. A small wizard farming community in Texas where the unicorns freak her out, and the resident witches watch NASCAR and eat Barbeque.
Despite her goals to get out as fast as she can, Julie makes friends, has fun, and falls for Vance, the hunky animal manager.
Now if only Julie can convince Vance to give up on Mrs. Right, for Mrs. right now!
Our Thoughts:
Shorter than most books I’ve read lately but a welcomed comic relief. Julie Mcnabb is a 200+ year old witch, tired of following in her family’s footsteps. She has always excelled in her job as a Security Witch, keeping up the protective shields around her hometown of Hamilton and incorporating newer technology, but she yearns for something more. Hormones and the eagerness to leave her life and her family behind for adventure and travel crash lands her and her snarky cat, Skippy, into Bug Tussle, Texas where she meets the sexy unicorn trainer, Vance. The relationship between Julie and Vance feels a little rushed since there is no real build up or depth but Author Michelle Kopra catches your attention from the beginning and doesn’t let up, setting the tone as a good humored light read, (cute does come to mind as well). The sex scene does feel kind of out of place though and just doesn’t seem to fit the vibe Ms. Kopra has going. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy Hexes in Texas, It was quite comical and an overall satisfying quick read worth the time. Ms. Kopra has a way with words that leaves you wishing the story just wasn’t over yet.
Fun Fast Read 4 STARS****
~Ashley
Julie McNabb comes from one of the most powerful withching families ever. The McNabb clan has ruled around Canada for centuries. Julie is so lucky that her gramps is also the clan leader. Sounds like a cushy life, right? No .....not really. She's betrothed to Kenneth one of the most boring men alive ( thanks mom and dad ). Her trusty black cat has more smart one liners than a stand up comedy act and he can vebalize each and everyone to her. Oh and her retired mom has taken up taxidermy, and decorated the house in animals( not to mention covered everything down to her clothes in tiger stripes).
Julie dreams of more than a security job in the little town of Hamilton. She has the same line of work dad had and her grandpa had before that. So she decides to transfer to New Orleans where all the supernaturals run amuck. Life should be good right? Wrong again!!!!! Julie's transfer is intercepted by a leader of a clan in Big Tussle, Texas. This little town has less than 5,000 in population and everyone knows everyone else. According to the clan leader, the town needs her expertise to set up a security system. And then there's a yummy unicorn caretaker who's constantly in her thoughts. Will Julie ever find love or satisfy her need to roam and find out where her home is destined to be?
I cracked up from the disclaimer in the preface to the end of this book. The authors humor is absolutely fantastic. I love the term "magical muffins " ......never heard a witches buns referred to like that. Not only was the novel humorous, but the plot flowed well. I never expected the drama and bits of suspense thrown in. I read this book in one sitting and have neglected the rest of the world around me!!! All in all excellent quick read. Great characters who are likeable and down to earth with superb plot pacing. Go get this one, one of the best and cutest I have read in a long time !!!!
5 stars *****

I am married 1 yr but together for 10 or is it 11 altogether? Anyway a long time, we have one child,a boy named Gunner(which is better than the original names the husband came up with....Sea Bass and Trout...Who would do that to an innocent boy? Geez.....
I love to read, paranormal is my absolute favourite type of books to read but I do read other genres.
I am new to the reviewing so please bear with me, I promise to get better as I get the hang of it!!! I take criticism very well....bring it ;-)

Hello all! My name is Michelle and I am so excited to be able to share my love of words with you. I am a total book nerd! I often say books are my guilty pleasure Lol. I love paranormal fiction, but I also have at least on favorite in each other genre out there. I am a mom of 7---five boys and two girls---- ranging in age from 21 to 5 . I also am proud to be a pediatric special needs nurse. I also have an awesome dog named Daisy that is my partner in crime!!! I am excited to share my thoughts with each of you and welcome your thoughts/ reactions as well!!!!
Ashley~
Hi everyone! I’m Ashley. A little bit about myself, hmmm, well, I secretly enjoying having love affairs with other peoples over active imaginations and living vicariously through their characters (yes, yes, it may sound like I have no life of my own, but I assure you, that is not the case). I have three sons, who constantly keep me on the run, between school, sports and SpongeBob. A Great Dane named Scooby Doo who totally thinks she’s a lap dog. I love to travel, horseback riding (as often as I can) and just the outdoors in general (oh, and I am a big fan of History too). But I must admit there is still nothing better than curling up on the couch with a cup of coffee and good book. Books are like a drug for me, I always find myself chasing after that emotional high. I want to ‘feel’ what the characters are feeling so when an author has the ability to write about raw emotions and describe them so well they can provoke that gut wrenching pain or cause you to cringe as they go into detail, I can’t help but feel satisfied and yet left with wanting more, feeling a bit at a loss when the story is over. One day I myself hope to achieve that goal (I have a whole slew of characters and plot lines trapped in my head begging for me to break them free of their prison). Until then… I am perfectly content with immersing myself within the words and pages of other talented Authors.
Lauren~
Hi! I'm Lauren! A little about me: I'm a 24 year old, UGA grad living in the Atlanta area. I have the cutest little king charles cavalier named Charlie, who I adopted 6 months ago and am obsessed with. While I was a Sociology major, English minor in college, I currently work in Human Resources. I love reading, and hope to get to read some good books here and share them with you! A few of my favorites include Pride & Preducice, My Antonia, The Awakening, Their Eyes Were Watching God, The Poisonwood Bible, and anything by Steve Martin.

Mayan Lover by Wendy S. Hales
Escaping the brutality of her past and following in her father's archaeological footsteps, Gwen Kramer's love of Mayan civilization uncovers more than artifacts when an ancient myth walks into her present, very real … and extremely sexy. Giving love a second chance isn't Gwen's greatest challenge, just her greatest fear.
Arka's destiny as Journeyer for the gods takes him on a 2600 year passage to find the Moon Goddess who's walked in his dreams since childhood. However, the shock at finding her clad in khaki shorts, hiking boots and covered in dirt is nothing compared to the one he receives when his true destiny is revealed.
When past and present collide, Gwen and Arka's love may not survive the forces threatening to destroy their future ...
Jaime's thoughts:
First of all I want to say is that this novella was a little shall we say naughty ish? Than I was expecting. I almost had to read with my hands over my eyes....almost....it does give you a smite bit of the naughty but it doesn't take over the whole story.
In that case, Mayan Lover is about a man, Arka who is from 2600 years ago transported to the future to find his Goddess of Moonlight, Gwen.
Gwen, after going through a divorce from a piece of abusive husband, goes on an archaeological quest for research. There she meets Arka, who is um shall we say well endowed. Instant attraction to one another. Like glue. They are called upon by the Gods to sacrifice themselves from a comet headed towards earth. Save everyone else or choose life with each other.
4.5/5

Beverly Bratton has a safe, mundane life. No drama. No magic. Since her parents died, she’s cared for her little sister Marion and worked at the Tragic Fall Inn. When a fairy’s charm sends Beverly a hundred years into the past–and into the path of a banished fairy prince–nothing will ever be mundane or safe again.
The regent of the Dumnos fae is turning the court from light to dark, and there's nothing the rightful king, Prince Dandelion, can do about it. The mystical coronation cup which he needs to become king has fallen into human hands. When he meets a human woman with access to the cup, everything changes. Beverly is fascinating as well as useful–but of course Dandelion doesn’t love her.
Love for a fairy is rare. Love with a human, impossible. But when Beverly and Dandelion are thrown together in a battle against both wyrd and fae, they learn that in Dumnos the impossible happens every day.
Abigail Tate was a normal human girl. Until the day Bronx the vampire barges into her life and turns her against her will. Held captive while forced to deal with never ending cravings for blood, Abby prays for a way to escape. Guardian angel Selene was so close to becoming an archangel—the supreme of all beings—until she fell in love with Cole, a forbidden dark one. Once she discovers her vampire lover has been kidnapped and the only way to save him is by abandoning her number one priority—Caitlyn, her human charge—there really is only one answer in Selene’s mind, even though leaving Caitlyn unguarded will most likely cause Selene to fall from grace.
But her choice to save Cole doesn’t come without a price…and now Selene is racing against time to not only save her dark lover, but find a way to keep Caitlyn alive as well.
With the help of a new vampire ally, Luke, Selene will push her diminishing angel abilities to the point where her very existence lies in the balance. Now threatened with the chance of becoming a fallen angel or even dying, Selene can only pray she’ll have enough time—and good grace—to save the ones she loves.
When the one thing you live for is taken from you, do you let it go or do you fall?
Jade, like any other student at Brushwood High, awaits the start of the school year with a certain measure of dread. Worse, she is being threatened by a voice that only she can hear—a voice that lurks at the edges of her awareness, haunting her and warning her of something unknown. She has always been able to count on her two best friends, Claire and Nate, but can she confide in them now? About this? Would they even believe her?
Life takes a turn for the better when she meets Avan, a darkly handsome new student who, somehow, seems to drown out the voice and make her feel at ease.
But Jade soon comes to realize that good things don’t last forever. When everything spirals out of control, she is shattered by something she never saw coming. Dazed and despairing, she must now overcome tragedy and embrace her true existence and a new but dangerous love. Will she be able to save herself and those she loves, before it’s too late? Or will she let the surrounding darkness consume her?
When darkness consumes you; will it be hard to find the light?
After Jade's world was torn apart, she is unsure of where she belongs, if anywhere at all. Deceived by those she trusted the most, she must now accept her fate and the life that lays before her.
The voices are back but this time, they are trying to lure her into the darkness. But could they be telling her the truth? That the only person she has been able to trust since the death of her boyfriend, Avan, is lying to her too? If the voices are right... Could she really trust him?

All she wanted was a vacation - but Dumnos offered a new life.
When Lilith Evergreen receives an antique ring as a gift, she dreams of a castle by the sea, a magnificent tree at cliff's edge, and a mysterious woman who bids Lilith to come to Dumnos, a land of mist and rain.
Cade Bausiney is the future Earl of Dumnos, but at present he just wants to bolster tourism to help the local economy. When Cade and Lilith meet, they're overwhelmed by desire for each other - so intense it must be magically induced.
Long ago a witch's spell ended in disaster that left two souls to haunt Dumnos to this day. Lilith and Cade must find a way to make things right - or be forever possessed by the spirits who've waited a millennium to consummate their love
A love more powerful than magic or time.
Only when an opportunity arises, it's with the aid of an innocent human named Tyler--except vampires are forbidden to interact with the unbitten. But Abby quickly learns this human has secrets of his own...secrets that can either help her or get her killed. Only Abby discovers that she was the one with the biggest secret of them all.

Beck Sherman interview
Hey all, today author Beck Sherman was kind enough to stop and chat with us!!
1. I have to ask, where on earth did the idea for Revamp come from?
Revamp was born of a combination of ideas. I started writing it just after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, so terrorism and patriotism both play big roles in this book. Vampires had been an obsession of mine since seeing The Lost Boys in 1987, one of my favorite movies. Another one of my top movies is Aliens and I wanted to make a character that lived up to Ripley. Emma’s probably a bit quirkier than Ripley, but she kicks ass and chews bubblegum. I guess I draw a lot of inspiration from film.
2. What do you read when you have the time?
I read mostly horror, but I do stray at times. I enjoyed Love in the Time of Cholera, which I read recently. High Fidelity by Nick Hornby is one of my favorite non-horror books. Right now, I’m re-reading It by Stephen King. I read so many of his books when I was younger and it’s really great when you re-read one of your favorites from childhood and it still holds up. I tend not to read books that are hot at the moment. I don’t know why. I think I have a tiny rebel living inside me who spits in the face of conformity, which in turn gives me horrible indigestion, which in turn has me avoiding what the masses call “a great read.” But I will check them out years later. The passage of time seems to satisfy my tiny rebel.
3. Tell us something people would find shocking about you.
I use my baby to steal things from the supermarket. Okay, well, I give her something to occupy herself, like a can of cat food, and I always end up walking out without paying for it. (ok, that's hilarious btw)
4. Do you have a writing routine you follow?
I used to only write at night. I think, on some level, I believed that as a horror writer I had to write at night or my books wouldn’t be scary. Now I write only during the day. Daytime can be scary too, right? Lots of scary things happening in daylight. I’m in awe of writers who can bang out ten or more pages a sitting. I manage a couple, on a good day. I don’t believe in outlines. I let the story go where it wants, without forcing it in any one direction. A lot of times, I’m even surprised where it goes. I need total quiet when I write. Like holed-up-in-a-sensory-deprivation-tank quiet. They actually sell those on the internet! I had no idea.
5. What’s next for you?
I have so many ideas. Books are inside me and they want out and they’ve got big fucking claws so it’s only a matter of time. It seems it’s very crowded inside me. But in all seriousness, I think I was meant to be a writer and what’s next is writing and writing and more writing! I do have another book completed, which will be released some time next year. I don’t want to give too much away, because what’s the fun in that? This one, however, is not a vampire book. It’s about a nice guy who’s having a really bad fucking day and it only gets worse. You’ll feel sorry for him, even when he turns into a monster.
FOR THREE DAYS, IT WAS DARK. News reporters scrambled. This was the biggest story to come along in weeks. They called it a blackout. The last one was in New York City in 2003, but this one was different, special, because the grids in six major cities across the country had been fried, kaput, see-you-next-Sunday. Everyone with some jurisdiction blamed each other, and when there was no one left to blame, terrorism rode in on its gallant steed. It was the media’s fault. They were so busy stuffing fanatical Muslims with a penchant for Allah and decapitations down the American citizen’s throat, that they never saw it coming. I guess I shouldn’t be too hard on them. They were partially right. It was terror after all, but a whole new kind. And when the lights came back on, things had changed. The dark had brought us visitors.
