Why Indies Rock

Today is our stop on this awesome tour that was set up by Tamara Beard. I'm the last stop on the tour too :) Some of the people on the tour talked about why they love indie authors, but since I am an indie author, I'm going to talk about that.

I published my first book Mark of the Witch in June 2012, and let me tell you, it was not an easy feat. Being an indie is hard. No one knows who you are, and you have to do everything by yourself. Ok, my griping is done :)
Here are the amazing parts of being an indie.

  1. Amazing fans. I know, traditional authors have good fans too, but being a fan of an indie author is a little bit different. As an indie author I'm a lot more connected with my fan base. If you shoot me a message on Facebook, I'm going to respond to you.
  2. My story, my way. I get to tell exactly the story I want to tell without a publisher dictating what needs to be in it.
  3. The cover is all up to me.....I know that sounds like it could be a bad thing, but its really not. I've gotten to work with some amazing cover artists since I started. The covers for my books are exactly what I want them to be.
  4. My books come out a lot sooner than a traditionally published author. I don't have to sit on a fully ready book for months and months before I finally get to release it.
So really, being an indie is not bad at all. In fact, it's pretty good:)

As a sneak peek into something new from me, here's the cover for Blood and Sacrifice, book 2 of the Blood Ties series

Hope you all love it as much as I do!! Check out my author blog as well
