Fairyproof Review

When Monique finds out her brother, Kieran, is planning her future with the one fairy she wants nothing to do with, she seeks refuge in the human world. Now Kieran fears she will be the next victim in a string of murdered fairies and is determined to bring her home. Hiding should be a breeze. She can control any human with a flirtatious smile and an attraction spell. Until she meets Daniel Elliot, the only human who's immune to both. A year ago, Daniel's fiancée disappeared with the engagement ring, an Elliot family heirloom. He's ready to move forward with his life, but his mother's obsession with retrieving the ring makes that impossible. Then Monique walks into his office to apply for a job. Daniel and Monique can't deny their attraction, but will the reason he's Fairyproof be too much to overcome?

 Our Thoughts:

Constance Phillips offers an interesting and fresh concept. After the shocking death of her parents and an overbearing binding proposal, Monique Saysin finds herself fleeing the Fairy World, everyone and everything she’s ever known. Constantly on the run trying to remain hidden from her brother Kieran and the power hungry would be suitor Euro Teneyck, she finds herself broke and alone within the Human world. Struggling to find a way to make ends meet, she is drawn to her mysterious and alluring new boss, Daniel Elliot, and the fact that he is seemingly immune to her fairy spells and powers. As the story unravels and the unknown pieces slowly start to fall into place you realize that things aren’t always quite what they seem between the World of Fairies and Humans. Fairyproof is an interesting read but I struggled to feel anything for the characters or the story. 3 Stars ~Ashley

When got me with this book is the fact that Monique a fairy is running from her family, something I wish I could do sometimes. Although her reasoning is to get away from Eero who wants to bond with her and it's something that she doesn't want because he's an evil fairy. Me I just want to run away for me time. While on the move she realizes that she needs a job to make money because she used all of her stones. I want to say that it seems like it works the same as money in the fairy world. She ends up answering a receptionist ad for a man named Daniel who owns a financial company. who is also a human. Totally against fairy rules. She is instantly attracted and unbeknownst to her, so is he. But he had just got out of a relationship because his ex just left him before, taking his ring with him. I don't want to give away too much in this review. There is a lot going on in this book. Brother trying to track down Monique, Eero the evil Fairy trying to locate her and bond with her, dealing with the death of her parents. And unlocking some secrets that could either help the Council continue to strive or cause Eero to cause the Council to crumble and have him as ruler of the Fairy world. I would definitely recommend this book. It IS different from most other paranormal books. Which is why I enjoyed it. Well I must go before I burn my dinner, but hey, maybe then I could be alone because everyone else will go get themselves something to eat, instead of bothering me every minute while I was trying to write this. Happy Reading!!!! 4.5 Stars ~Jaime

A Diary's House: Where True Love Endures

HTML -

A Diary's House: Where True Love Endures

A Diary’s House is about adventure, lost love, and the hope that dreams, even those in the final years of life, can at last prevail. It is of a young boy’s attempt to become a man, the once-lost secrets of a diary, a sweeping romance which transcends time and place. It is more than a boy’s journey into manhood, but the mysteries of so many lives unknowingly intertwined, now brought together in a climatic ending; all from the engrossing world embedded in a forgotten diary; a diary of a woman. Born in the vast and looming mountains of North Carolina during the 1870’s, Landon Hampshire always remembered the folklore and legendary tales his father told him during his early childhood; about the people of the Kituhwa (Cherokee) and the birth of this tribal nation – an enchanting story he could never forget. Incorporating the aid of an eccentric old French trapper (old man Montague), Landon and his friends set out on an adventure, their initial intention is to discover treasure and become men. But what Landon will eventually come to discover is more than he ever bargained for. Landon didn't realize his boyhood adventure would yield the incredible journey he ultimately experiences - going down the mysterious and mystical Randola River. At the base of the river is an island even more mysterious than the Randola itself. The island releases many of its mysterious, yet even many more are created when Landon discovers, on the island, a diary of a young woman who lived forty years prior during the 1830’s (Trail of Tears). The diary entries are hopeful, though haunting. It reveals, in intimate detail, the life and dreams of this very special young girl who is turning into a woman of beauty and adventure, her love for a Cherokee boy, and the trials she will ultimately face. Her story unfolds through the reading of her diary, and Landon suddenly finds himself caught up in a sweeping, empowering world of re-invention and ultimate redemption. C. David Murphy I am a writer; first and foremost. Anyone who reads my works will instantly know this. I have found no greater joy on this earth than to be close to God and nature; exploring the serenity of landscapes, waterfalls, epic mountains, meadows and grasslands. To sit on those spots of earth and write to where my imagination will take me yields a tremendous amount of peace and serenity.. To create characters with true and genuine emotions, feel their heartbeat thru every word I write; their trails, their hopes and ambitions; to breathe life into their eyes and see their soul become one with me and the reader is absolutely amazing. I simply love to create on that venue and canvas; to affect change in the lives of others. It is my hope, when someone picks up my stories and reads the full weight of them, that somehow I have affected change in their lives, brought them to places they could never have imagined before, and moved them to believe in humanity again – to go out into the world and create ‘goodwill towards all’. Crimson Groves Interview andReview

Hi you guys, we're joined by a very special guest today!! A lady i'm proud to call a friend, the lovely and amazingly talented Ashley Robertson!!! I interviewd her, and then me and the girls reviewed her book Crimson Groves. Hope you enjoy :)

When you wrote Crimson Groves, did you have a clear ending in mind, or did it surprise you?
The ending for Crimson Groves was just how I’d originally planned it, though there were several details along the way that weren’t. With it being a planned series, it really had to end the way I needed it to so Abby’s story could continue, starting out with one hell of a bang in the sequel Crimson Flames.

Where did Abby come from? Did you base her on anyone you know?
Abby has elements of several people—some real and others fictional. I wanted her to be likeable, so I selected qualities from people that I found easy to get along with, but I also wanted her to evolve into the badass warrior she is in book two, and using some characteristics of my favorite book heroines really helped the transition. That way, readers would hopefully root for her because they connected at some level with what she was going through and how she handled the situation.

What has been the hardest thing about being an author for you so far?
The part between finishing your manuscript and publishing it as a book. (sighs) This is the high-intensity time where you must make everything as close to perfect as you can get it. If it weren’t for my amazing editor (Stephen Delaney with Close Reader Editing Services), I’d go crazy. It astounds me that I can reread my novel a half dozen times and still not catch the countless mistakes that Stephen does. Plus, this is my last chance to strengthen those sentences and cut those unnecessary paragraphs. Readers can blow through a book in days—or even hours—but authors need months or longer to write it.

What have you loved the most about being an author?
Coming off a thirteen-year career as a real-estate agent where my phone was plastered to my ear, I’ve learned that I actually love the moments where I can shut off my phone and work. I could never do that before. And while I enjoyed helping others find their dream homes, the countless hours of troubleshooting wore on me through the years—especially after the market tanked and I was forced to work with banks (who still haven’t figured out how to properly handle their real-estate departments). The other thing I love is that I can really control my hours better and I have more time with my family. I may not make anywhere near the income I made selling homes, but for me having the quiet time to work and more time with my husband and son is worth it all and I’ve never been happier.

  What’s next for you?
I know I mentioned it above, but I’m close to completing the sequel to Crimson Groves. Due out in the winter of 2013, Crimson Flames will pick up right where we left Abby and her quest to learn more about the sorceress powers that were awakened inside her when she was turned into a vampire—making her a whole new hybrid species. There’s a group of rogue vamps banding together and forming a Resistance against the vampire governing body, The Head Council, and Abby’s newly discovered powers are the key to the Council’s victory. Now the Resistance will do anything possible to remove the hybrid threat, and with no other options, Abby is forced to rely on the aid of the Council, yet can she trust the very vampires that hunt for her human lover? And even worse, can she fight the unwelcome attraction that’s growing between her and one of those ancient vampire rulers?

Abigail Tate was a normal human girl—until the day Bronx the vampire barges into her life and turns her against her will. Held captive while forced to deal with never-ending cravings for blood, Abby prays for a way to escape. Only when an opportunity arises, it’s with the aid of an innocent human named Tyler—except vampires are forbidden to interact with the unbitten. But Abby quickly learns this human has secrets of his own...secrets that can either help her or get her killed. Only Abby soon discovers that she is the one with the biggest secret of all.

Our Thoughts:

I liked this book a lot. I had a hard time getting into it at first, but it drew me in and I was hooked. I liked Abby a lot, she was put into an impossible situation that was not her choice at all. It felt like everything was against her, she had no choice but to bend to the will of someone stronger. Enter Tyler, who offers her an escape. I like Tyler at first for sure, I have mixed feelings about him now lol.
Abby has to hold everything together while she tries to find out who and what she is. I very much look forward to the next book in this series!! 5 stars!!
~Jessi

Okay, so I read Crimson Groves and I must admit it took a bit to get through the beginning. Now to be fair, it was Bronx was a butthead, I say butthead because I don't know if I am allowed to use the actual term. Lol
With that said this story is about a girl, Abigail , or Abby as she likes to be called. We follow her story from when she gets a random phone call from her dad to meeting Bronx to him turning her vamp.

During the course of her new found life that she never asked for, she meets a man, Tyler who helps her escape from Bronx. Tyler has special, let's call them talents...which you will find out what those are when you read it.
On the run she needs to feed, I mean hello vampires need blood right?! But will she ever be safe with Bronx looking for her to claim her? Or will her and Tyler ever be rid of him? Sure maybe, as long as there is not someone who isn't 100% honest about who they are and why they are there.....
Intrigued yet?? You should be.... 4 1/2 stars
~Jaime

Abby has had about the worst six months any woman could have. She just caught her best friend in bed with her boyfriend. To make matters worse the two of them are now in a relationship trying to be friends with her!!! Isolating herself has worked well for her until she met Bronx.
Bronx strolled into her bar like a yummy cookie all for her. Tall dark and handsome he is the making of a girl's dream. Unfortunately for Abby thay dream is becoming a nightmare. Bronx is a vampire, a very dangerous vampire. He not only wants to know Abby but possess her and use her for his own evil plans. It seems Abby's past has many secrets. In order to unravel those secrets she must face betrayal of those she cares for and also learn to trust those who are steangers to her.
Abby's journey is awesome. I don't know how else to say it. I love Abby's determination and desire to fight what is right. Many other people would quit when faced with the obstacles she comes across. Not Abby! She remains in touch with her humanity and chases to find the truth. The author made the characters realistic even though possessing supernatural abilities! The plot twists were quick and unpredictable ....several times I had to say "I honestly never seen that one coming!" This series is sure to be a grwat read for those of us that love a great paranormal action / romance / thriller......you get all three in one here. Looking forward to Abby's next journey. ***** 5 stars!
~Michelle

Soul Sisters review

Soul Sisters is an urban fantasy novel about African-American twin sisters Ani and Dana who have a rather unique secret: one sister is human while the other is a vampire. While the sisters have lived peacefully with each other for many years one fateful night will change both their lives forever. When a drunken man tries to attack Dana (the human sister) Ani (the vampire sister) protects her sister with all of her ferocious power.

However, when the vampire’s leader Donovan finds out about the public display he calls for the sisters to be assassinated for disobedience. Ani and Dana now are in for the fight of their lives to protect each other as well as the lives of their dedicated friends who have joined them on their mission for survival. If Dana and Ani can make it through this time of uncertainty, Ani can take her new place as vampire queen. Soul Sisters is expected to be a trilogy; The book also features a multicultural cast of characters that brings a new edge of chic to the vampire world.

Amazon

Our thoughts:

Ani and Dana are identical twins in appearance, but their personalities are way apart . Ani is a vampire born our of Dana's own blood more than a hundred years ago. Dana remains a immortal human for all eternity. While Ani has a serious obsession for protecting Dana, Often enough Dana has to remind her of humanity.
After a series of events go extreme their maker has returned to terminate Ani. That act will end Dana's life as well. Neither twin is ready to die ......but how do you fight and win against your maker?
I liked the concept of the soul twins. Each have loveable characteristics who make you like this story. I enjoyed the action twists as well. Solid novel with new concept and storyline! 4 stars
~Michelle

Soul Sisters is about a girl Dani in which to save her husband gives up her mortal life for an immortal one and in turn she got a soul sister, Ani provided by Donovan the creator.
Ani is Dani's protector as long as Ani stays alive so does she.
Until Donovan sees that Ani, although protecting her sister, go further than necessary.
He finds Dani and tells her that Ani must pay for her indiscretions. When Ani dies so will Dani.
Both sisters try to make a run for it and realize that Donovan has to go.
Will they be able to kill him so Ani can become creator? Or will Donovan finally catch up to them? 4 stars

Broken Butterflies Review

Ilisha Morrison should have died the day she boarded the bullet train to Colorado. As her train collided with another, a handsome stranger saved her life, but put her in more danger than she ever imagined possible. Caught in a warring world of angels, demons, and a vengeful Death Maker who wants to destroy her, Ilisha discovers her true identity and that not everything is as it seems. Betrayal, heartache and two angels competing for her love forces Ilisha to make the hardest decision of her life.

Amazon

Our Thoughts:

Ilisha's life was turned upside down on the way to her grandmother's funeral. Victim of a deadly train crash, she walks away unscathed after a stranger stepped in to change her fate. Bram was her savior who seemed to have all the right words when she found herself lost.
Unfortunately Bram wasn't what he appeared to be. In fact, saving her was the worst thing that could have happened in her life. Cheating death denied Ilisha the destiny she was meant to have since the beginning of time. Bram's actions have left left running from a vicious demon who is intent on collecting her for the bounty placed on her. There is nowhere for her to hide.
Bram is also carrying around his share of secrets. While he professes his love he neglects to mention that she may not be his to have. Her heart has always been destined for someone else.
I liked this book. Intersting paranormal story apart from the usual. Ilisha does blossom as the story goes on seeming to find her inner warrior and becoming more decisive. Nice sophmore efffort from this author. I thought the butterfly symbolism was pretty interesting as well, just to throw that in!!! 4 stars
~Michelle

he concept was fresh and exciting but I think this story would have done better as two parts. After a train wreck should have claimed her life, Ilisha Morrison finds herself on the wrong side of a Death Makers hit list and thrust into a world where she’s confronted by Angels, Demons and the ultimate betrayal. Love and Deceit rule this story and as the heart breaking truth is revealed Ilisha is forced to make a choice. I liked this book but I really wanted to love it. The beginning was captivating as was the ending but the story from point A to point B though, just felt a little rushed. Ultimately it’s a good read but be prepared for a crash course of information, and a few “didn’t see that coming” events. 4 stars
~Ashley

Broken Butterflies had me interested during the train crash and being saved by a guy that just appeared out of no where with a "trust me" although the story was a good one...I do agree with Ashley as it could have been better as 2 books.
With that being said Illisha has fallen in love with Bram, a fallen who she ends up marrying and then comes to find out that she was lied to.
And that her so called enemy who she believes is to kill her, ends up being something completely different.
Lies, truths, and hotness are all in this book...
~Jaime

One of the top supermodels in the world, Angel, lives the life of the rich and fabulous, until a heinous car accident mars her face. After thirteen surgeries and losing everything she deemed important, she seeks out the dark forces to salvage her life. Angel decides to conjure the Devil for help, making a deal to recover her beauty. In exchange for his help, Lucifer forces her to hunt supernatural renegades, which have eluded the pits of Hell. In her quest to find beauty and get out of her contract with Lucifer, Angel stumbles upon love in the arms of a demon.

Ebook/Paperback

Our thoughts:

Angel had it all until a drunk driver stole her life. She walked away with her world turned upside down from the accident. Once a supermodel, whose face graced the covers of magazines worldwide, not she is scarred beyong recognition. After talking with every known surgeon throughout the world she decides to make a deal with the devil.
Through her bloodline Angel is a true Voodoo Princess. She conjures up Lucifer himself and asks for a deal....one that lands her in hell literally. While there she runs into a demon named Jacque who is supposed to be her trainer. Jacque makes Angel's blood boil in all the wrong ways. No matter how she tries to escape him, something seems to be pushing them together. But is it possible that her vanity could cost her all those she loves and even all her new friends as well?
The concept in this book is amazing! I love New Orleans and the magical mystery of it. The allure there is amazing to us that loves the paranormal. On that level you will not be disappointed here. There are yummy vamps, demons, fae, demons and even some scarier ghouls and demonic creatures. Angel is a kick -butt strong female who doesn't even realize how powerful she is simply being her. It takes a lot to grow and become confident and comfortable in your own skin. There are several references here to some hip-hop music and that was cool as well. I happen to love all the ones the author picked out! Lastly I loved the humor thrown in, especially those comments by Laurent. He killed me with some of those lines. I would read further novels in this series...they have a lot of promise 4 stars
~Michelle

The Black Plague is ancient history. It killed 100 million people nearly seven centuries ago, halfway around the world from the technologically advanced research center at Stanford University. Scientists there have recently begun examining samples of bone marrow from plague-infected corpses unearthed in Europe. All the necessary safeguards are in place. What could go wrong? Alyssa and Jake are away with their class on a highly anticipated year-end trip to Broadway with their senior acting class when all hell breaks loose at home. Traveling back, and trying to find their families, they encounter deadly results. Riots are breaking out. People are being evacuated. And they have no idea what's happening to their families. Horrific ordeals, heart-pounding tragedy, and chance encounters harden them for what lies ahead. Faced with tormenting decisions, they're forced to follow their instinct for survival at any cost - even when the cost is a heart-wrenching decision of life or death. A harrowing adventure of frightening discoveries, horrifying confrontations and narrow escapes in Epidemic, the first installment of the Mad World series. Find out what's got everyone so terrified.

Kindle| Paperback

Ashley's thoughts:
I wasn’t ready for this book to end. What would you do if you were faced with a highly infectious disease epidemic? For Alyssa, Jacob and their small group of friends that is exactly the reality they are faced with. After a school trip to New York gets cut short due to unforeseen events in their home state of California and unable to contact anyone from back home, they find themselves driving across the country for answers. The streets are deserted, their families, everyone, gone. Bits and piece of news and information they manage to pick up from social networking sites are the only resources they have on where the evacuee have been taken. Just when they think they are in the final stretch of this journey, they learn the truth behind the Epidemic and come face to face with zombies at every turn. A fast paced zombie thriller. Author Samaire Provost snags your attention from the beginning and leaves you thirsting for more. 5 stars!!!
