Talented by Sophie Davis

When Talia Lyons was just a child, her parents were murdered before her eyes. Offered a choice between accepting their fate and exacting revenge, Talia trains to become one of the country’s deadliest assassins in order to kill the man responsible for their deaths: Ian Crane. Luckily, Talia was born with a gift- the ability to read and influence the minds of others. At sixteen, Talia is poised to graduate from the McDonough School for the Talented, where she learned to control her abilities. Now there is only one obstacle standing between her and the retribution she craves... Talia herself.

Her greatest asset may also be her undoing; while a formidable weapon in the field, Talia’s talents prevent her from both shutting off the mental connection she shares with her questionable boyfriend and blocking out the thoughts of a beguiling fellow recruit. But Talia can’t afford to have the feelings and distractions of a normal teenage girl, when her life is far from normal.

She must regain the single-minded determination that has brought her this far, or it may cost Talia her life when she finally faces Crane. And even after being molded in to a weapon of war, she’ll still have to find the strength it takes to pull the trigger.

If James Bond and Sookie Stackhouse had a love child with a yearning for vengeance, her story would be TALENTED: an adventure about powerful teenagers who aren’t afraid to embrace their fears and fight for what they believe in.

Our Thoughts:

Natalia had had one horrible experience after another in het short life. First, she had to witness the brutal murder of her mother and father. Having no close family, she chose to move in with the leader of TOXIC. Mac and Gretchen ha e seen to it that she has had the best of everything all these years. They took her in and treated her just like the daughter she never had. Talia should have been more than happy, but instead her hate only grew. Now she is intent on hunting the man behind the attack and making him pay for het parents murder.%
While hee love life remains beyond complicated, she begins her apprentice year to become the most deadly of her kind-- a TOXIC hunter. She must learn how to balance the strain of work and her fragile homelife . All while keeping herself and her partner's alive
I fell in love with Talia. In the tradition of kick butt females like Laura Croft from Tomb Raider, she brings that in your face butt kicking mentality and power, while also being indecisive and a little bit socially awkward. It is really a great story to watch unfold. There is a romantic sort of element. I have to say the I seriously didn't like Donovan the whole book. I wanted to reach through the pages and smack him a few good times.
The characterization was very well done. The personalities are strong and even the dialogue fits. The plot is balanced between coming of age/action and adventure/ romance. It is a nice blend that keeps the reader engaged from the very beginning. It is a fast paced read, and I liked the flow. It was nice to see that even though Talia had all this power, she wasn't all hard and non-feeling. After a series of not so goof books o have picked up this one is a gem !!!
I do list this as a recommended read and one that will really entertain. This is the first book in her series, so I anticipate great things from the future novels. Editing was well done as well. Go out and grab this one, well worth the time!!! 5 stars

Holy smokes Batman! When I started reading Talented, I was sucked in. Revenge always sits well with me so this was an incredible read to review.

Talia is a girl on a mission: to become a Hunter and get revenge for her murdered parents. She's trained hard for the better part of her teenage life and has loved hard in the process. She makes new friends and loves being a pledge. But when feelings for another catch her off guard, truths and lies are discovered and her whole world gets rocked. When faced with her solo mission, will Talia follow through with exacting revenge or will she falter and fail?

Wow...just wow! I'm starting to become a huge fan of dystopian and I am über glad I was given the chance to read Talented. Sophie has created such an addicting series and leaves you craving more. I love Erik! He is such a great guy despite being a ladies man. I don't want to give too much away but dang...it's kinda hard not too :) I can not wait to read Caged, book 2 in the Talented Saga! 5 stars
